My wife travels on business (too much). Over the years Washington, DC, New York, and Los Angeles have been the most frequent destinations. When Vic’s plane lands in Charlotte and she is able to call the first words I hear are: ”the eagle has landed.”
Neil Armstrong used those same words on July 20, 1969. His exact words were: ”Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.” Six and a half hours later at 10:56 p.m. ET Armstrong became the first person to set foot on the moon.“
Mission Control erupted with celebration upon hearing Armstrong’s now famous words. They had landed safely.
Before Vic leaves on a trip I tell her “Vamos con Dios.” Aside from using all that high school and college Spanish I learned the phrase captures an important sentiment. Go with God. Land safely. Come back safely. I want my world and your world and the world to be a tranquility base.
Here’s hoping you and yours remain safe.
