Theology Does Not Equal Reading The Bible

Theology does not equal reading the Bible.  Theology, for example, also includes autobiography.  ”Our theology is shaped by our personal histories, our past and current contexts, the specific issues that concern us.  Our theology is shaped by whom and what we have encountered – what we read, whom we know, those whom we engage in conversation.”  (Monica A Coleman, Making a Way Out of No Way:  A Womanist Theology, p. ix).  In our theology, we wrestle with pain and suffering.  We press God and faith communities for answers.  We ask how and why and “says who?” (p. ix)

Ultimately, our theology expands us and our world.

How is your theology expanding your world and the world God has given you to change for the better?
